egad.

There really are no better words for this...

or this...

But if there were words, you know Tom & Lorenzo have our backs.

My favorite quote from their amazingly spot on spout off:

"There's a certain class of Hollywood women who have dieted and surgically altered themselves to the point where they really don't look like people."

and

"Imagine what she sees when she looks in the mirror. Imagine the kind of stress and self-image that causes you to go to the extremes required to look like that."

My thoughts?? There's a reason I never have any (yes, I said ANY) fashion magazines in my house. BWOF is as close as you'll ever find here.

You see, I am the mother of a daughter. The less she is exposed to that crackpipe of reality above, the better.

(A big thanks to my girl Shannon for pointing me to the article today. I'm usually a day late and a dollar short on TLo's blog. )

  1. I didn't even recognize her at first... I never saw that blog before - very funny... thanks for sharing!

  2. At Go Fug Yourself they were claiming that D.M. doesn't really look like this in person and must have been Photoshopped into anoretic oblivion. I'm not sure I'm buying it, tho.

  3. Poor Rumer, it must be embarrassing to have a Mum that looks younger than you. Mind you I've just opened an email from daughter's private school. Guess what is on the fund-raising auction list - Botox treatments! I'm appalled.

  4. Oh my. I'm SO with you. She's not even recognisable as herself. What the hell is going on.

  5. Oh my! That has to be photoshopped. She looks like she's 27, not 47. Yikes!

  6. I read part of the article from the magazine online and the author states, Demi looks thinner than expected. Take a look at Meryl Streep, there is an abundance of parts for her. Aging gracefully says alot.

  7. I love their blog too. Yea, ol' Demi is pretty scary looking these days.

  8. You're a smart mother to keep what you can regarding fashion and Hollywood's sense of "beauty" from your daughter as long as possible. Honestly, why can't we just age gracefully and accept the wrinkles that come with the wisdom?

  9. Strange - it seems like every time I see her, she looks completely different... and in this case, really hungry.

  10. Egad is so right! My daughter's ambition in life is to be Mrs. Ashton Kutcher II. I better tell her to get ready 'cause it looks like Demi is going to keel over any day now!

  11. Ick. So... unnatural.

  12. What is she thinking? Oh yeah, she isn't. That's the point isn't it?

Totally off topic although I think that DM photo is scary...I have been enjoying and lurking on your site for some time now and a while back you had some four square coasters you made. Could you tell me what month that was? I looked on the sidebar for the project but couldn't find them. I can't remember how you finished them and I don't remember a binding per se. I thought they were so cute and a perfect way to use some scraps. Thanks, Star-Fort Worth, TX

  14. Star--
It was in November of 2008! It wasn't my pattern/instructions, but Jenny's at allsorts, so I didn't put it in my tutorial links.
Here's the link to my coasters:

  15. EGAD is correct. She has bought her entire body from what I have read.
On a side note, I couldn't find your email address, but I wanted to tell you that I think I found a pattern for the Beyonce coat you blogged about. It is in BWOF 5-2007-134. I have a problem though. The smallest size it comes in is 44 and I need a 38. Do you know how to grade down a pattern 3 sizes?
