Blouse Envy
In that frustrating way the internet has, I ran across a teeny tiny thumbnail photo of a freakishly adorable top. Appeared to be red polkadots, neck tie or ruffly jabot, short sleeves with armband. It appeared to be a screenshot from a tv show or movie.
Did you know you know you can copy the URL of a photo and paste it in the google search box, and it will search the internets for THAT image?
You can.
Behold the magnificence of red (not polkadot) necktie/ruffly jabot short sleeve blouse:
WHY would such a lovely woman, who is clearly still quite young (early 30s?) do this?
Oh Hollywood, yet again you disappointment with your shallowness.
If you haven't made a New Year's Resolution yet, might I suggest embracing your wrinkles? Hopefully you got them from things like SHOWING EMOTION and SMILING and LAUGHING and LIVING LIFE. So they're nothing to be ashamed of.
Also, more cute feminine blouses. Yup.

Swoon. It has a bit of a 40s vibe, don't you think?
And it's not polkadots, oh no. It's LIPS.
Now I must have a red LIP printed ruffly jabot short sleeve blouse. Pattern suggestions? Seems like there's a Burda Style or HP out there similar.
(By the way, my uber detective googling discovered that the tv show was "Friends with Benefits", a very, VERY short lived series that ran a couple of years ago? I have never heard of it, and I'm a tv-aholoic.) Alas, I'm not interested enough to finagle the (rather tasteless) screencaps for the other 9 or 10 episodes to look for more gems like this blouse. Based on this episode, the title actually does indicate the premise of the series.
I had to wade through a ton of screencaps to bring you these pretties (oh, the depths I go for you, dear readers), and on my way I also found a series of scary photos of the above actress in a different scene:

A Simpler, Quieter Life
December is flying by and once again I haven't had time to settle down and enjoy the time leading up to the holidays.
I have Pinterest boards for both Christmas and handmade Gifts, but I haven't had time to even peruse them.
Next year seems so far away, and yet I found myself just this past weekend thinking about planning better next year.
SERIOUSLY?
Shortly after that I realized my life could stand to be a lot simpler.
I originally created my FB account when I was doing business on ebay sewing toddler girl's clothing. Then I kept it because I discovered my tiny babies were suddenly teenagers and I wanted to keep up with them (and their friends).
Then all my coworkers and friends (old, new and barely met yet) had a Facebook. So I should have one! Except... it kinda creeps me out. It's always creeped me out. It's terribly invasive. It's time-consuming. It's a new and improved way for people to be rude and unkind to one another. It's a neverending mish-mash of TMI.
If you're my friend or family member, chances are you have my phone number and/or address. Call me. Or write a letter. Or, you know, email me one of those really important emails I actually want to read.
And if you're my child, well, I already know what you're doing and what your friends are doing because I talk to you every day. Every. Day. And I like that much better than Facebook.
I plan on continuing to find ways to simplify and pare down my life. What do we really need? What makes me truly happy? What do I cherish the most?

Then I got really radical and deleted my Facebook account.
Then all my coworkers and friends (old, new and barely met yet) had a Facebook. So I should have one! Except... it kinda creeps me out. It's always creeped me out. It's terribly invasive. It's time-consuming. It's a new and improved way for people to be rude and unkind to one another. It's a neverending mish-mash of TMI.
I really loathe it. So I deleted it.
And I feel so much better.

shoes, wonderful shoes.
It's no secret I have a thing for shoes. Is it?
Lucky for me, I'm teaching through my planning period for a few months, which results in a little extra shoe shopping money. yay! Here are a few I bought and I few I still want. It's pretty much neverending!
First in the "bought and wearing" category...Red patent leather ballerina flats.
Super 1940's-esque black pumps. These are VERY retro in person:
The new Naya brand at Naturalizer, expensive (ouch) but gorgeous and I love love them!
Now for the "I really, really want" category...
More Naya (although I seriously want the blue colorway of this one, the black is awesome too):
These oxfords are perfect. Satin ribbon laces? Be still my heart!
Oh, and the beautiful outfits I could create just for these suede pumps...
And brown ankle boots are, like, a necessity of life. Right? ESPECIALLY if they have a little rosette detailing. I'm pretty sure I'm right about this.
Darn kids and their Christmas presents to shop for, and, oh yea...the satellite bill and the gas and the phone bill. I could SO have these boots (and the suede pumps! Or the oxfords!) if it weren't for pesky little details like that. Hmph.

whew.
Ok, where did November go?? Have I already mentioned it like totally up and ditched me this year? I went straight from Halloween to Christmas. I hope the next couple of weeks sloooow down so I can enjoy them.
So, I guess you know your blog has finally made it when you get hit heavy by the spammers n' the haters. Right?

Unequivocally, the reason I have never remarried...I'm waiting for this:
Arnita & Lyle Yingling were married in 1941 in Kansas. Last week, at age 95, Arnita passed away quietly in her sleep. Six hours later, Lyle (age 97) followed her. Inseparable in life, they are now together forever. They were married 67 years.
