I'm sure she's worn it before, but last night I got a good look at the shaped lace insertion at the shoulder, with teeny tiny tucks. And that asymmetrical front! Wow. I love her eyelet-edged cami peeking through too.
This one has had a good run so far in the series too. It's pretty no matter how many times I see it. I really love the lace...is that filet lace?
And all of the pulled-thread work that must have taken ages. Beautiful.
Last night's show was full of great costumes. I feel like everybody's been wearing the same 5 or so outfits all season and then, bam!, everybody has brand new lovelies to wear last night.
ReplyDeleteI get them on Amazon Instant and both the last episodes where there today. I'm going to miss it until next year. Loved this season.
ReplyDeletethat blouse was a scene-stealer.
ReplyDeleteWearing the same outfits all the time is a way to build continuity.. And it's was wartime... (You're on season 2, right?)
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, the blouses these girls wear are just lovely... And undoubtedly time consuming... I think that blouse would look just as well with a pair of straight-leg jeans and kitten heels on a modern girl...
But--it will be on Netflix so you can watch it again and again. I just re-watched the first series because I had forgotten some of the events. Much fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's netted lace. And they are wearing antiques? Although I love them and have quite a few, the thought of them being worn under hot lights and without dress shields makes me shudder.
ReplyDeleteShe should have a colored silk ribbon running through that camisole. That was considered quite sexy at the time.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn, I think they're really antiques. I read an article about the costuming last month that talked about the different antique garments they use (some from other movies and tv shows). I can't believe these two have held up. They seem so delicate! I guess I shouldn't be so afraid of wearing the (few) pieces I have!
