So this happened.


And finally, three and a half years later, I feel a little bit of closure and can let go of my grudge regarding the finale of BSG. 

If you've been with me that long, you know how I adored my BSG.  And I have never, ever, rewatched the final season. The finale ticked me off that bad.  Not that the entirety of it was bad, in fact one of my favorite moments of the whole series occurs in the last 30 minutes ("moonrise").

The last 20 minutes ruined me. 

But the conversational thoughts above, what they were thinking, how they interpreted the scenes and the relationship, make me feel very warm and fuzzy and forgiving.  I actually agree with them, especially Katee.  (*cough* my giant girlcrush notwithstanding *cough*).

My babies.

I think I might need to purchase Season 4 now.  All this time I've been pretending it ended at the end of Season 3.  With a self-created bright shiny future epilogue in my head.

Which might still exist.  Warm fuzzies or no.

Only 90 minutes to go until the beginning of the last episode ever. Sigh. I'll be watching the 3 hour & 11 minute finale with phone unplugged and kiddos tucked away with a dvd. (Last week's 1 -hour episode repeats at 7:00 pm CST. The entire finale is supposed to be viewed in entirety for the full effect. I'm totally prepared to do that!)

A big shoutout, for the last time, to all my BSG buddies near and far!

ps...Still fervently hoping for pilot happiness in the end. Please?

Two episodes left of (arguably) the best show on television...ever. I'm fairly a basketcase of nerves worried about bits like...

Will the old girl survive til the end?


Will Sam?


I've been expecting Laura to die for so long, her death will be a bit anticlimactic if it happens...but how will Adama survive without her?


And what about Helo & Athena? They've been almost too happy (up until, you know, that thing with Boomer last week.)


Speaking of Boomer, Poor Chief!! What's to become of him now?


And the really important stuff...Like will Lee ever don a flightsuit again?


Or a towel?


And my girl, Kara. She might as well be the Scarecrow, because I will miss her most of all.

I've been in a state of non-creative blah-ness since all the Christmas giftiness ended. That always happens after the frenzy of crafting. We can blame Shannon for this new bout of stitchery! We are doing a bit of a sewalong (Normally we agree on a project and then she stitches up the whole damn thing while I am still in the thinking about it stage, hopefully to follow along at some point. You know, one of those kind of sewalongs I do so well at.)

Except HA! Not this time Shannon! I actually SEWED A LONG! Here's a peek of what I got done today:


We're doing a quilt-along. See, I only really know one other person as enamored of quilt fabrics and mix/matching prints as me, and that's Shannon. And since my girl Lu won't let me sew much for her from those fabrics any longer, it was really only a matter of time until the quilting bug bit me! Lucky for me, Shannon & I are two halves of the same nut because we both decided we were ready to try quilting (again) at the same time. (We do this alot, btw.)

We're using this super easy pattern from a couple of other blogs that we're calling "Flea Market Fancy" because, well, that's what those other blogs called it. You can find the directions & measurements here: Crazy Mom Quilts

I'm using a lot of my favorite prints in this one, ones I call "juicy color"prints. I've got two basic colorways going, pinks & blues. But in yummy hot pinks & lilacs and turquoise & seafoams. Today I finished piecing the 10 "blues" blocks.


Don't they look like a pile of candy lying there on the floor? Since most quilting bloggers name their quilts, I've just got to jump on that parade. I've been calling this one Candy Dish. Because it's YUMMY.

Can you see all my favorites popping up in there? Some Amy Butler, and Sis Boom, and Heather Bailey...and assorted other prints from stash. I should have waited two days and I could have used this yardage in the stash contest over at PR. Whoops.

Other than piecing 10 blocks (and yes, Shannon already has her 20 blocks pieced & sashed. But who's counting.) I watched 6 of these:

Saturday Afternoon No Brainer

This UFO has been sitting by the sewing machine for 2 weeks waiting for ribbon ties.


Fun project to do because it's ONE SEAM! All of the other design work is done for you. These pre-smocked/gathered panels were on sale at Hancocks a few weeks ago, so Lu picked out this juicy summer stripe for a sundress/top.

We scored the perfect matching ribbon for ties.

I finished this project & planned another while rewatching the BSG miniseries (Season 1), i.e. the good old days.

We miss you too, Captain Apollo.

BSG S4 Ep2 ~ Six of One

OMGosh, Shannon (et al) did you watch last night??? I was laughing at Baltar, squicked out by Tory (yet oddly fascinated), clutching my heart at Lee/Kara, and all sniffly at the military sendoff. I've already watched it twice and I couldn't sleep last night after the episode I was so worked up.

Now THAT'S good television. Those of you who don't watch...RUN, don't walk, to the nearest Blockbuster and rent the first 3 seasons. You are missing the best show...ever.

Monday Monday

Ahhh...I'm tired. I spent 3 days this past weekend on a school trip, then have late school nights today and tomorrow. The good news is I'm off Friday! Yay!

When I got home, I had these two books waiting for me:


I really like Sewing in No Time by Emma Hardy. And I didn't expect to like it much at all. The cover just didn't do much for me. But it has SO many cute little projects in it! And I'm not much of a home dec sewist. The other book, Sew Many Bags Sew Little Time by Sally Southern, I really expected to enjoy. And I did...just not quite as much as I had originally hoped. It had cute projects, but nothing I haven't seen done before (and better.) And I do like to make handbags! So I was just a teensy disappointed in it. But I'll keep both books. You can never have too many sewing and craft books, you know!

New Vogues are out! I really like this Marci Tilton pattern. Not crazy about the skirt, but the little capri's are dang cute! I'm especially fond of the white topstitching on the navy.


I am also really liking this Issey Miyake jacket and pants. I really, really like the jacket, but something about the flow-y, not quite capri, not quite pants-pants are appealing too.


And I have always been a big fan of Adri. One of my favorite patterns EVER is an Adri pattern from Vogue, long OOP. This one reminds me of it so I will probably pick it up. I love the jacket on this one!

Phew. I was really afraid I'd end up as Baltar! (the rest of you can tune this out for a second) Shannon!!! There's a possibly that Scifi/NBC/Universal won't pay for the rest of Season 4 because of the writer's strike!!! And what they've shot (the first 10 eps) ends on a big cliffhanger of some sort. We could SERIOUSLY get stuck there foreverafter!!! AGGHHH!!!! (ok now the rest of you can pay attention again.)

In Wardrobe Contest news...I have the knit top cut out and the wide leg capri's cut out as well! I didn't get a chance to work on them today because I was working on this:


Just a peek at a set for the "Cute as a Button" launch with my new ebay boutique group, theChicks. This bunch of girls is SOO much fun!! I've had a ball this week getting to know all of them!


The set features this little halter top, along with a pair of embellished denim capri's, which are almost finished. They are seriously awesome. I promise I'll show you the finished product!

And tomorrow will be sewing for ME day!

Nobody hyperventilate, but we had a CELEBRITY in our midst this week! Holy cow, Jennifer Paganelli, creator of my FAVORITE fabric line Sis Boom popped in and left a sweet comment! Man I hope everything on this page was color-coordinated :P

I have 6 yards that I've hoarded for months and months because I can't bear to cut into it. I am such a dork (I admit this and you haven't even heard about my Battlestar Galactica addiciton. Well, until I just outed myself.)


Meanwhile, due to a somewhat odd (but totally me) combination of amateur digital art and sewing savvy, so far this week I've been named both a "genius" and a "goddess".

I've been biding my time waiting for the next season of Project Runway...watching BSG dvd's and Everybody Loves Raymond repeats on tv. BUT, I discovered Shear Genius on Bravo last night

Basically, it's Project Runway for hair. HAS to be the same producers/creators, because it's an obvious ripoff of PR. The pacing, the challenges, the set, heck even Jaclyn Smith's mondo-serious "This was your last cut" is Heidi-esque (as if!! She's clearly a wannabe.)

There's even a "Laura Bennett" (Tabatha) and a "Michael" (Anthony). Which is cool. PR Season 3 was my fave!

And last night, the winning haircut was created with these...


although NOT by him. He's a dork of the first degree, and is in NO WAY TO BE MISTAKEN AS A "TIM GUNN"!!! There's only ONE Tim, and dude is most definitely not it.

On the other hand, it's always fun to watch people act like horses arses on tv, and for some mystical cosmic reason, it's even more fun if they're of questionable character &/or sexuality.

So it's watchable. But, I offer no apologies for the voracious SQUEE'ING I'll be doing when the real PR returns to tv later this year. Bring on the too-thin, the too cute, the too tattoo'ed, the too former drug-addicted, the too-gay designers of extreme fashion. America is waiting.
