If you haven't been watching, in a nutshell...Prince Charming and Snow White send their baby daughter through a "portal" of sorts to another time/place to save her from the evil queen. Meanwhile the evil queen sets a curse upon all of the kingdom that deposits every character into present day Storybrooke, Maine. Only, they have no idea they are fairytale characters. They have no memories of their actual existence...they're just in limbo. Emma, Snow & Charming's baby, is the one who can break the curse. Only, you guessed it, she has no idea who she is either.
It's been a ton of fun so far, and we get excited when a new fairytale persona shows up. This week it's Cinderella. It's smart too...the storyline isn't linear so you have to pay attention. I appreciate smart TV. (I appreciate dumb TV too. heh.)
I also appreciate gratuitously good-looking heroes. Mmmm. Charming...
But what has really captured my fancy (shocking) is Mary Margaret's wardrobe! (MM is really Snow White). Just a few lovelies she has worn in the first 3 episodes...
Dying for this lacy top. Dying.
Anthro dress!
I've been finding myself searching for a knit pattern similar to this top...BWOF? BS? HP? I've seen it somewhere.
Mary Margaret has this sweet, schoolteacher vibe (totally opposite her true characterization of Snow White...show you that another time). I love the cardi's and florals. Especially with the pixie haircut! Too cute.
Fangirly goodness.
Ahem.
The top that inspired this post...allover lace, deep teal cardi. Yum.
Paired with the cutest pants (cords? Can't tell!) and GAH. SHOES. Must have these shoes.
And how about this cute top... in lawn?? I have some lawn stashed. I've got that Simplicity top that is very similar, or the HP Sunshine top. both would need a placket alteration.
Yup, lots of inspiration to be found here, which was sort of unexpected!
My weekend plans consist of finding a birthday gift for my sister... not the easiest task. And, hopefully stitching. I had a cutting-out fiasco last weekend that I don't even want to talk about. It killed my mojo, let's leave it at that. But I think I'm over it and can proceed to the nearest sewing exit...
Have a good weekend!
The End.
Love this show! :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the show! Yes you do need to pay attention, as you can catch who all the characters are that come into play. The lace top Snow wore was almost identical to one I had in the 90's that I bought at Victoria's Secret, through their online/catalog clothing division. I have the show on the DVR but also catch it on HULU ...
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this one yet (seen the ads and it does look interesting). Looks like some very sweet costumes!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the review! Because I don't have regular TV (just the internet and Netflix) at our house, I haven't checked this out yet, in spite of my extreme love for fractured fairy tales, Snow White in particular, and my strong belief that Ginnifer Goodwin is one of our generation's classic beauties, in spite of ALL that, I haven't checked it out. Now I will!
ReplyDeleteI know I've seen that t-shirt pattern too, but a quick search is coming up short. If I find it, I will tell you!
This is a fabulous show! I love all of the fairy tale tie ins; smart TV at it's finest!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are so right about Snows wardrobe; very inspirational! I'm trying to think of what knit top pattern is close to that; I need to peruse my stash.
Did you happen to catch the headpiece that the queen wore in the first episode? It reminded my very much of the work of a needle tatter/blogger I read; I need to ask her if she did it. She hinted months ago to a top secret project.
Can't wait to see the Cinderella episode! Thanks for sharing; now I have Snow inspired sewing in my head.
xo, Anita
Wow I knew nothing about this show (from the uk) and I love everything fiary tale! It sounds a lot like the 10th kingdom which I love and watch over and over so I will have to try it! Thanks for the post ans the cute outfits.
ReplyDeleteI'm hooked too and just to the storyline. I never even realized how great the clothes were until you showed those pictures. They say this is the best new drama of the fall and I have to say that I agree with them!
ReplyDeleteEpisodes are piling up the DVR, but we haven't started watching yet. I'm going to insist we do so tonight!
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot to start taping this. DOH!!!!
ReplyDeletemy life sucks.
I love it. Can't wait for the next episode.
ReplyDeleteLol...I love your posts! My husband watches this show and has been trying to get me to watch it also....maybe I'll give it a look-see.
ReplyDeleteI love that show, and I got my mom and my partner addicted to it as well. Red Riding Hood and her grandmother are in it as well! I practically squealed when I realized who they were! The costumes are beautiful too, but I hadn't noticed how beautiful until you posted this.
ReplyDeletedude i just linked to the top you are searching for today on my blog. i believe it's this one:

just scoop the neck?
I'm actually sitting here doing some blog reading while I wait for this very show to start! And yes, I love it so far. I'm a fantasy geek anyway, but I think this puts a great spin on it. And I agree that the clothes have been very good so far. (And the more fairy-tale costumes-- I have to admit I was kind of eyeing those pants with the lacing up the side that Snow was wearing in last week's episode!)
ReplyDeleteyep. I'm watching it, too, and love it@!
ReplyDeleteI have been watching the show since it debuted and I love it. It's awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic. And I love Ginnifer Goodwin. I hope they will bring it to Britain.
ReplyDeleteI so agree about Mary's outfits! Those cardigans and florals are so pretty!!!
