winterized.

See this?

Well, I'm right in the path of the white stuff (that 6-12 inches band is me). I can handle snow, but unfortunately they're calling for up to 1" of ice accumulation first, which means I'll lose power.

Last time I lost power for an ice storm, it was out for 2 weeks. Yes, WEEKS.

But least I'll have time to trace some of the cute things in the new BWOF (or BS as Shannon has started calling it, haha) and Burda Plus mag, which has some cute things in it for spring/summer! I really like this knit top:And this pencil skirt is really sort of awesome. I probably need to muslin it asap.

And I'm a sucker for these flowy, butterfly sleeve thingies. LOVE this top.
This top has possibilities too. Hmmm.
If you don't hear from me for a few days...I'm hunkered down, keeping warm, and missing the internets!! But hopefully, we'll just see some nice, white fluffy stuff and I'll be cozy warm with the internet AND the tv to keep me company.

  1. I'm in for it too, sistah! It hasn't started here yet though. And I'm lovin' the same BP patterns. I'm thinking I need that pencil skirt, pronto.

  2. Ok, so those flowy buttefly top things. I always thought those were a bit "ew", especially for -ahem- rounder people such as myself. Then my mom bought me one as a cover-up when we all hauled ourselves down to San Antonio for a summer vacation. And you know, I actually really liked that thing. It was tres flattering. Who'da thunk? Very curious to see one in action on someone else.

word verification: "corfize". I don't know that that means, but I like it. "I'm going to corfize that, man!"

  3. Two weeks? Holy crap. Do you live in the middle of nowhere?

  4. I hope you don't lose power. That is such a bummer! I live on an island, and we sometimes get cut off from the mainland because the river is too full of ice for the ferry to cross, as experienced for 5 days recently! We have an automatic generator to run our entire house for that reason. If the power goes out and a repair truck can't cross the river--we are out of luck! Make some beautiful things.

  5. I received both issues in the mail, too. I am loving the ones you picked out. I have already traced the 50s dress from the regular one, but want that top you posted from the Plus magazine.

  6. I'm in the white band, so should get 1 -3 inches. Not so bad, except they are saying ice , sleet and freezing rain, rather than snow! Hope your power stays on! Stay warm!!!

2 weeks?! We just got our power back after it being out for 5 days - ugh! I thought I'd be smart and stock up and get my sewing all ready because you know, a big storm is coming... Let me tell you how BUMMED I was that I couldn't sew a stitch of what I'd cut out - thus today, I actually looked at an old treadle sewing machine because I think I'll go nuts if that happens again!

  11. Stay warm, and have fun tracing! We've had very little snow this winter, but man... it is crazy cold! Not a snow day yet! This is not standard for a Michigan winter!
