louis louis.

I have been salivating over the Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 collection. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the runway:

I loved almost the entire runway show. I'm tempted to cut my skirts a little longer now, below the knee, and I am definitely digging out all my vintage circle skirt patterns!

Then this week my fall "W" magazine came in the mail, and it features the Fall LV ad campaign! LOVE!!

How fabulous is THAT?? Wouldn't it be awesome if suddenly, women started to "dress" again??

(but maybe without the girdle!)

ps... Don't forget to enter the Sew Beautiful Blog Tour Giveaway! Tomorrow is the last day! Details in this post.

  1. You should definitely make some of those circle skirts - especially the leather one! :) And what do you need a girdle for ~ there's spanx now!!!

  2. You just can't go wrong with Louis Vuitton. IMO. You also just can't go wrong with plaid. Ever.

I agree with Carolyn, Spanx (et. al.) is the way to go.

  3. Beautiful! I loved most of that collection too, but were the shoes a bit weird... or was it just me?

  4. I'm scared of circle skirts. My lower half is pretty circular as it is! (And I once had a well-meaning friend tell me my whipped-up circle skirt added 10 pounds to my hips... on Halloween! I was dressed as a dalmatian! Nevertheless I remained scarred.)

Do you know of a style that combines a more A-line waist with a swishier bottom?

  5. I agree that this collection is beautiful. I also think that these circle skirts would be relatively easy for a home sewist.

The only thing that stops me is that I cannot imagine the situation where I could actually wear one of these dresses. To pick the kids up from school? To dinner? To the movies? Drinks with the girls? Shopping? I think my lifestyle is too casual, and my personality too shy to pull it off. On the other hand, if I see women sporting around the neighbourhood in these sort of things - I am in!

  10. Oh wow! I am so glad I found your blog. I am a sewer turned quilter, and while I love quilts and quilting, I also enjoy sewing clothes for me. Especially since buying them is such a hassle. I always wear my skirts longer, but then I'm a tad older than you. I love the circle skirts. I'll be making me several for this winter. Thanks for sharing. ~ Nita

  11. Beautiful! I love the nipped in jackets with the circle skirts - what a perfect silhouette. (And I couldn't wear girdles - I go nuts if a garment even comes close to pinching/restricting me!)

  12. Look at all those swishy skirts! I have always liked the proportion of a long, full skirt. The long length compensates for the width, making that silhouette slimming. I'm sure to see some beautiful ones from you!

  15. Oh those are beautiful. I used to sew suits like this, in my thinner days. And I still have them! But I am many many pounds away from fitting them again. So, maybe I should just make myself some in this size..But I sure do love those styles.
