I remember the excitement really well. I was 10 years old and we watched it on TV at school (because believe it not, not every family had a TV) then were given a half day holiday. I kept the newspapers for 25 years, but unfortunately they were stolen when my flat was broken into.
I could have gone all day without being reminded how OLD I am. Thanks! I remember my mom and dad waking me up and dragging me out of bed to watch. I was 8 years old. It was really boring, but they insisted I stay awake for the whole thing. Unfortunately, I didn't appreciate the magnitude of such a miraculous achievement.

ReplyDeleteInteresting Gail, if you remember watching it on TV, then what was I watching that I had to get up for?
ReplyDeleteVery Cool. My oldest boy is going to Space Camp this summer. The legay lives on. :-)
