I love my children. Really. Especially when one comes home on Friday afternoon, after I've been slaving away educating the masses, to tell me that they have a birthday party to attend.
On Saturday morning.
Good thing mama sews, that's all I gotta say. (and a big fabric stash!)
Thirty minutes of quality time with my sewing machine & gathering foot later, and you have an 12 year old girl friendly pillowcase. In hot orange & pink girly print with aqua ruffle...
Oh, and a bit of zebra fluff too.
I let it blow around on the line for a bit, for that just hung on the line, yummy smell.
Then tied in ribbon & encased in cellophane, all ready to gift.
Whew.
Well, aren't you crafty! Cute pillowcase. I personally keep a stash of picturebooks handy to use as gifts, but then my kids are under 5... I guess a big stash of fabric serves the same purpose! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's adorable! Really *love* the zebra ruffle. I think I need a gathering foot... add it to the birthday list!!!
ReplyDeleteAngie, "woot"!!! You rock! I totally missed the pattern sale at Hancock's. Thanks for the heads up. I'm heading over there as soon as I put on some makeup.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that?!! I'm sure it will be a hit at the party.
ReplyDeletethat is fabulous! Is the blue a bit fuller than the main fabric? I hope the tween thing liked it. g
ReplyDeleteI adore that , I am seriously hoping if my machine will take a gathering foot .
ReplyDeleteGreat pillowcase!
ReplyDeleteMy kids are always doing that to me too. My oldest have older friends and co-workers so lately I have been hearing - Someone just had a baby or is pregnant, what do you have that I can take to them tomorrow?
What a mom! That is a darling pillowcase and a wonderful present, the zebra ruffle is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLove the pillowcase. I taught 6th graders, 11 and 12 year olds for years. Any 12 year old girl would love to have one in her room!!!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog.
What a fabulous pillow case. One 11 year old girl and one 13 year old girl at my house now think we should make pillowcases this afternoon - and not as presents. Thanks (I think!)
ReplyDeleteI Love that, it is really girly.
ReplyDeletePrayers, Bo
What a cute pillowcase! I love the way you combine your prints too. I can never do that--just don't have the talent to bring things together like that. And you reminded me to think about my feet! One of my sewing resolutions of 2009. Use 'em!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! A one-of-a-kind gift any tween would love!
ReplyDeleteHow in the heck do you combine three totally different prints and make it look so grea together? If I did that it would be pea soup. Give us some tips!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your blog Angie! And the pillowcase. GREAT save. It's awesome! And I want to learn about that gathering foot, too. My serger will gather, but it's a little unpredictable as to how *much* it gathers.
ReplyDeleteI referenced you on my blog! Hope that's okay. I am in love with paper piecing now, thanks to you... ;)
