Counterfeit Dresden Petal Handbag Pattern: Los Angeles Needlework

Thank you to the lovely blog reader Kathy, who let me know that the losangelesneedlework dot com (not feeding their traffic with a  link!) was SELLING my Dresden Petal's handbag pattern.

damn straight I'm a 5-star author. I'm also FREE.

WOW. If you're a blogger who shares patterns and tutorials on your blog or website for free, you might go have a look. I recognized a few others' work while I was there for the five minutes it took me to submit a CEASE AND DESIST notice on them.

Son of a gun. People are scumbags.  They even added the absolute WORST font choice ever on top of my images. (I teach graphic design. Don't screw around with me on font choice. It ticks me off.)

Please click on that link and choose "File a Claim". There is a place to report any of their websites that host copyrighted or trademark-infringing materials.  Thanks guys for reporting! I'm feeling pretty blessed at all of you who have emailed to let me know my pattern was up, even 24 hours after this post, I'm still getting emails from concerned bloggers and I appreciate all of you!

**UPDATE #2** I have heard from Domains by Proxy and they provided additional contact for the hosting provider for Los Angeles Needleworks. Here is that contact info. Feel free to flood their email with complaints.  (Note that this info is also publicly available under the Whois.com website as well. Just giving you folks another contact point.)

I scanned this cute dickey pattern and article from a 1940s sewing booklet and thought I'd share!

I can't honestly say that I've had a lot of opportunities in my life to wear a dickey, but I do like a peter pan collar.  (there's also a plain collar pattern too)

I dearly love these patterns, but honestly, I'll never take the time to grade them because since buying them I've found something similar in a better size for me.  So don't feel any guilt whatsoever! I am SO happy to pass them on to someone who will love and cherish and use them! 

But, you know, if anyone out there would like to get me one of these for my blogiversary gift, I promise I will make good use of it:

My very own Lee Pace Pieman.  Can you just imagine?  Mmm hmmm.

ps...Cherry Sundress news:  I'm chicken to cut into that fabulous vintage cherry print fabric (in case it doesn't fit) so I'm making a "test garment" in a yummy yellow floral.  (Not vintage, but still adorable).  So hopefully at the end of this little project, I'll have TWO cute sundresses!  More to show on THAT this weekend!

Sew Beautiful Blog Tour - Pt 5: Pintucking

If you've been following along in my sewing adventures for very long, you might remember that Sew Beautiful magazine was pivotal in my early interest in sewing. In fact, it could be said that if it weren't for the Easter issue of Sew Beautiful in 1998, I may never have found this wonderful hobby.

As a longtime subscriber & reader, I was thrilled a few months ago to be asked to participate in a special blog tour as part of Sew Beautiful's September/October issue! (Psst...To go right to the Pintucking video, scroll down this post!)


Sew Beautiful graciously asked me and several other heirloom enthusiast bloggers to join their blog tour, featuring a series of videos that the SB experts have filmed, highlighting just how attainable these beautiful techniques are. Even for beginners!

Along the tour route, you will learn all of the techniques required to complete this gorgeous camisole:


At first glance, such a lovely creation might seem overwhelming to someone unused to heirloom sewing. But the truth is, the basic techniques needed to complete this project are quite simple. You need little more than a straight stitch and zigzag stitch!

Each video "class" shares a basic technique needed to complete this pretty camisole, recreated from a vintage nightgown. SB shares the instructions and templates needed to create this camisole in their September/October issue #132.
