Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm spending this lovely Thanksgiving morning in a time-honored way -- making carb-loaded casseroles and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Inicidentally, it's also my BIRTHDAY!

Yes.  I'm a Turkey.

Thanksgiving Feast: Peanut Butter Pie

So my brother's girlfriend brought this crack to our Christmas dinner last year:

The expression on my, my sister's, and my mother's faces at the first bite was... priceless (technically thinking of another word, but we're talking about my mother here.)

I knew I could never (never ever ever ever) make this unless it was for a GIANT FAMILY FOOD EXTRAVAGANZA.

WITH WITNESSES.

But, you know, if you don't believe me, the recipe is linked up there below the photo.  Which I stole from All Recipes.  Then credited.  Fair Use, yo!

The recipe doesn't point out that the real killer is adding chopped Reese's cups to the top.  That's sort of a must-have.

My problemo right now is... I've been thinking about it since the day after Halloween because PIE DAY is comin!  Mmmm....pieeee....

I've been doing "less (i.e. I can't yet do NO) sugar, fewer carbs" for about a month.  (Loosely doing the "Belly Fat Cure" plan, although I'm not religious about counting anything.  Down 9 lbs!)

I'm pretty sure peanut butter pie is the #1 pie of choice for low-carb recipe modification aficionados.  Or maybe #2 behind cheesecake.

Substitutions that won't bring about an OMG!SUGAR! coma, mucho appreciated.  We can do this!

...

Please?

ps for my Fringe crowd.

PETER.

You're breaking my heart.
I love you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for my beautiful children, my family, my health, a job I enjoy, and for all of you, my sewing community friends. There have been many times you have brightened a dreary day or boosted flagging spirits.

The single and alone are often forgotten or overlooked, so if you are alone this holiday season, know that I feel your frustration and share your loneliness. Remembering to be grateful for all of your blessings helps put everything into perspective.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving in the US, and for those in other parts of the world, I send a heartfelt thank you for the visits, the comments and for extending the hand of friendship.

ps...If you are in the Chicago area and or just watching the McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade, our high school band is in the windy city to march this morning. Sending warm, toasty fingers and toes their way!

giving thanks.

~I'm stupidly thankful for my children, G-man and Lu, who light up my life every single day. There were times I simply couldn't have gone on if it weren't for them.

~I'm thankful for my family who makes me fruit loopy crazy (but then, that's probably where my sense of snark came from!)

~I'm thankful for my amazing friends who astonish me all the time with their generosity.

~I'm thankful for my students, who break my heart when they grow up and go, but then do surprise visits on my birthday and make it all better.

~And I'm thankful for all of YOU! Who keep coming back, even though I'm almost never consistently on topic, and frequently breaking my own promised planned projects, and flit from one subject to another until my own head spins. But at least its never boring.

While this is more of an American holiday, it's never a bad thing to give gratitude! So I'm wishing all of you, near and far, a Happy Thanksgiving!! I'm smooshing you all together in a great big hug right now! (Even those who have a tiny bubble. Deal.)

Now I'm off to fix my sweet potato casserole and deviled eggs and broccoli salad...Wow. I'm super hungry. And finish watching the Macy's parade!! My favorite!!

Have a fabulous day! Safe travels for those of you on the road.
