Saturday Pinnings: Pinterest Faves

My morning Pinterest perusing yielded all this inspiration. You're welcome.

I heart ethnic embroidered pieces.

Don't you think Saturday's and Sunday's should be longer?  Like 30 hours instead of 24?  How can we arrange that?

Thors-day

hammer time!  break it down...
Just a little Thorsday inspiration to take your mind off
that pesky other thing going on (at least for my American compadres).

What.  You thought I was going to use that
shirtless pic again, didn't you.

oh all right.  so pushy.

I propose a new drinking game for the remainder of Thorsday. Your key words:

mandate
Justice Scalia
repeal
 democrats
obamacare (what. that's too easy?)

I'll be drinking diet A&W.

Proceed with caution.

Why I'm excited...

Well, let's see.  There's Captain America.

And Thor.

And Iron Man.

Basically all my favorite clothing-optional superheroes.

May 4th people!

Thanksgiving Feast: Peanut Butter Pie

So my brother's girlfriend brought this crack to our Christmas dinner last year:

The expression on my, my sister's, and my mother's faces at the first bite was... priceless (technically thinking of another word, but we're talking about my mother here.)

I knew I could never (never ever ever ever) make this unless it was for a GIANT FAMILY FOOD EXTRAVAGANZA.

WITH WITNESSES.

But, you know, if you don't believe me, the recipe is linked up there below the photo.  Which I stole from All Recipes.  Then credited.  Fair Use, yo!

The recipe doesn't point out that the real killer is adding chopped Reese's cups to the top.  That's sort of a must-have.

My problemo right now is... I've been thinking about it since the day after Halloween because PIE DAY is comin!  Mmmm....pieeee....

I've been doing "less (i.e. I can't yet do NO) sugar, fewer carbs" for about a month.  (Loosely doing the "Belly Fat Cure" plan, although I'm not religious about counting anything.  Down 9 lbs!)

I'm pretty sure peanut butter pie is the #1 pie of choice for low-carb recipe modification aficionados.  Or maybe #2 behind cheesecake.

Substitutions that won't bring about an OMG!SUGAR! coma, mucho appreciated.  We can do this!

...

Please?

ps for my Fringe crowd.

PETER.

You're breaking my heart.
I love you.

Shallow Sunday and the Snake

Sooo I was all mojo'd up because of this, and I went tra-la-la-ing through my fabric boxes (stored behind my sewing cabinet door) looking for the PERFECT wintery fabric and what should fall into my lap but...

A FREAKING SNAKE SKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even me, with my ever present camera, cannot capture this for you on film.  I've still got the shakes.

(If I were Oona, I'd have a stash of liquor suitable for curing a snake shake, but since I am not I don't.  ALAS.)

You know what soothes my shaken, battered soul?   Pinterest.

SPECIFICALLY...yummy eye candy on Pinterest.

If I had to choose just one to deal with THE SNAKE, I'd go with McQueen.

If I had to choose one to MARRY RIGHT FREAKING NOW, it'd be Colin Firth.  (But we might have to hire someone to deal with the snake.)

Random interesting Pinterest fact... Cary Grant has the most repins of anyone on my pin board.  Dudes everywhere should start taking notes methinks.

Now I'm off to drink a glass of water and take a deep, calming breath.  Again.

ps...My dear father came to my house to poke around for the snake.  He thinks its gone.  AAAHHHHHHHH.

good bye.

Where is Peter Bishop?

Any Fringe fans out there?  I'm not gonna lie, I got lost last season and quit watching, but I've recently gotten HOOKED but good once more.  As a former X-phile, I am really enjoying this series.

First two episodes this season have been awesome.  But I sure miss my Peter.  (Any theories as to how he'll return?)  Because I miss his face, I bring some Joshua Jackson yummies to tide us all over.

Ahhh Josh.  Such a wholesome cutie.  Too bad he's all entangled with Diane Kruger.  You know, I'd hate her, but they're adorable.

Fringe is on tonight!

heating up!

I'm back from a quick jaunt and find that that ho bag Kristine has been movie-star boyfriend stealing (again). Woman.  He is still mine.

Oh yes, she is being all coy and rather passive aggressive with her "the dirtier the hotter" suggestion.  Which we all CLEARLY remember already being quantified right in this very spot some time ago.

Holla!

She's right about this being most definitely a must see here too:

Ummm...

What was I saying?

Oh yea.  It's hot here.  But the wee-folk (who are both technically taller than me) and I are going out of town to much cooler pastures next weekend.  Maybe say, somewhere like this...

I have some tops to make before I leave so hopefully you'll never know I'm gone if I'm as good as I think I am and a) finish all planned items and b) pre-write all blog posts to post on their own.

(Of course I'm as good as I think I am, which is why SOMEONE is totally SOL on the movie-star BF stealing gig.)

ps...hi mom!

church potatoes

I'm sure you've seen and used a version of this recipe about a million times, but this one is my favorite. My mom has always called them "church potatoes" because they're a hit at church luncheon's or suppers, and easy to make/reheat!

Ingredients:
*1 large package frozen hash brown style potatoes (or "country style" potatoes, which are cubed with peppers and onions)
*2 cans cream of celery soup
*1 - 8 oz carton of Garden Vegetable Philadelphia cream cheese
*Optional: Italian bread crumbs & melted butter for topping
*Optional: 1 cup cheddar cheese

Directions:
Heat the soup & cream cheese in a bowl in the microwave until the cream cheese begins to melt. Stir or whisk to blend. Fold in the frozen potatoes. If you're using the cheddar (like I did!) you can fold in half of the cheese now. Pour into a buttered casserole dish (if I'm making a full batch, I usually use a large round casserole or 9 x 13 rectangular casserole. If I'm making a half batch for home, I just use an 8" round casserole dish). Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes, until bubbly. Toppings: For the last 10-15 minutes of baking time, sprinkle Italian bread crumbs over the top and drizzle melted butter/margarine over the crumbs to create a crunchy, yummy topping. Or, sprinkle the 2nd half cup of cheddar over top (I'm usually lazy and sprinkle the cheese before baking, that way I don't have to pull them out again until eatin' time!)

Yummo!
