new (vintage!) patterns...

I really can't resist vintage patterns.  Every time I think I can't possibly find something I don't already have a similar version of...I find one!  Vintage patterns just have oodles of sweet/cool/amazing details that beg to be sewn up.  Here are the goodies I found in my mailbox both Saturday & today...

A couple from the late 40s, mostly 50s, and one 70s. (I think I know what you're thinking on that last one.  Something about it really called my name though!)  I think the 1950s little top is my fave, but I love the jaunty bow on the pencil skirt too.

Now just have to find the time and fabric and energy to sew!  I took the top out of it's package this afternoon to trace it but ran out of steam.  Maybe later this evening while I watch tv.  It looks fairly simple to put together, and I can always use new tops.

And yes, I might need a 12-step program.

  1. Oh I love the simplicity with the sweetheart neckline and the full skirt - but that pencil skirt with the bow - fabulous!

And the last one, totally reminds me of "The Love Boat" Can't wait to see what you do with it. g

  2. Yay! Great finds! I have a vintage pattern that I've been putting off making because I'm not looking forward to tracing it. It's going to be super cute though....

I love that bow/dart detail! It only takes one little detail like that to get my brain-train steaming ahead... thanks for posting those.

  9. Girl. Those overall shorts are clearly YOU. Forget about this stinkin' pencil skirts with bows and whatnot. Over. All. Shorts.

Oh wait. You already OWN at least one pair of overall shorts. Perhaps this is why I think they're so you.

Fine. Then 1972 maxi wraparound Love Boat dress it is! You'll be on the Lido deck.

  10. The pattern above the skirts is my fave! I love the stripe one and the little shrug style sleeves are to die for!!
Do you trace the patterns to preserve them? I hacked into mine! To be fair they were just from the 80's so I didn't feel too bad about it, I think tracing them would exceed my level of patience! I suppose if it was a truely lovely vintage pattern I'd make the effort :)
