a day in the life

Yesterday I forgot to brush my teeth (luckily I keep an extra toothbrush & paste in my desk).

This morning in the shower I washed my hair. And then I washed my hair again.

When I got dressed, I took my shirt to the kitchen to iron it. And promptly forgot why I was in the kitchen. So I fixed my lunch, put on my shirt & went to school...

Where I looked down and remembered why I went to the kitchen in the first place. I could have gone across the hall to the room with the irons...but I was too tired of thinking about why I forgot in the first place to explain. So I was just a little wrinkled. But at least my hair was squeaky clean.

At 10:50 I realized I had forgotten to eat my breakfast.

At 12:25 I realized I hadn't eaten my lunch. I ate my yogurt (the breakfast) because it was easy to manuever while I taught.

Back at home, my neck is stiff, right ear aches, and all I really want to do is lie on the couch in my pj's and watch tv. So I picked up my jammies, headed to the bedroom to change...

and forgot what I was doing. When I remembered and tried to find the pj's, it took me 5 minutes to find them. (I'm in them now.)

At 4:50 I stood in my kitchen again, folding clothes (neverending laundry. I wish I could forget about THAT) thinking about old friends, pondering the complexities of new.

And then I pulled up this photo from last night...the glorious, sparkling, exuberant smile of the G-man...two hours post braces removal.

...and decided life is beautiful. Squeaky hair, stinky breath, wrinkled shirt, confusing, mixed up world and all.

What I'm Reading.

What I'm Listening to.

What I'm watching. (For you, Mr. X)

  1. Did you call your sub for tomorrow yet? Sounds like you're getting sick. I have a raging sore throat and a slight fever, yet I think I can make it just one more day with musinex , sudafed, and advill. My teaching assignment has switched to teaching the severely handicapped students. It's a real challenging class with several students with CP and downs. Three wheelchairs, two blind students, and one who runs away as soon as you're not looking with only 4 adults to watch them and 10 students in all. It's different and interesting. Sort of like teaching pre-school. And like pre-schoolers, they don't cover their mouth and spew everything right on me when they sneeze. Yuck! However, I don't have to rove any longer.

  2. I'm glad to hear of someone as forgetful as myself. Although I don't have the excuse of an impending illness.

  5. That is so funny! You know what I've done too many times that I'm embarrassed to admit other than here--forgetting to wash conditioner out of my hair only to remember as I'm blowing dry when it's just not drying "right". Duh! It happened to me a couple of times when I was a high school teacher, and unfortunately one morning I did not have enough time to hop back in the shower. It was so embarrassing to look so slick and greasy. Made me feel dirty all day.

  6. He looks so handsome and super happy! I'm having my braces removed on the 28th of this month, and in their place I'll be wearing invisalign. We'll see how that goes.

    Hugs,
    Lory
