So what better is there to do on a rainy Sunday than to flat draft pants? I can't think of anything!
I started with this book, which has flat pattern drafting instructions for a basic top, skirt, and pant (all with several variations):
I was pretty intrigued reading through this book because I've had such great success using similar flat pattern drafting with my Sew What Skirts book. Of course I jumped right to the pants chapter since I am tired of fooling with that Burda Plus pant. **Hey, I just joined KitschyCoo's sewalong for this book too! See my cute button on the sidebar? Here's the Flickr group! Join us! And, you know, buy the book.
And to entertain myself while plotting out my soon to be perfectly-drafted-to-fit-me pants I popped in the first (and only, sniff) season of Moonlight. Because Mick St. John is hot. And vampires are good pant-drafting buddies. Didn't you know?
See those claw marks on the top right? Poor yellow cat has been locked in the other end of the house because of her intense love for my roll of tracing paper. Bad kitty.
Why, vampires are great for all sorts of sewing assistance! I can't wait to hear how this turns out. I have picked that book up several times, but never bought it. I might need to add it to my library! And don't be too hard on Kitty, she was just trying to help!
ReplyDeleteI just ordered this book!! There is a sewalong just getting started up at http://kitschycoo.blogspot.com/.
ReplyDeleteI love sewing books and this one sounds very interesting, I think I'm off to place an order ...Thanks :))
ReplyDeleteVampires are good for all sorts of activities, including walking on a treadmill and cooking dinner.
ReplyDeleteOne must be cautious however, because Vampires sometimes change our course of action!
ReplyDeleteOooo...looks good. I've had my eyes on that book but I'm fasting at the moment. Can't wait to see how these turn out.
ReplyDeleteJoin in on my skirt sew along please, we'd love to have you! And seeing as you're an expert already...
ReplyDeleteOh, and DON'T. EVEN. TALK. TO. ME. ABOUT. VAMPIRES. http://kitschycoo.blogspot.com/2009/09/further-proof-that-my-life-is-unfair.html
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the pants drafting, you are a brave chick. Oh, and vampires are good for some things, but only a werewolf will keep you warm! Rwawr... ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the pants drafting! I can't wait to see how they turn out!
ReplyDeleteYou got to love kitties! I usually end up throwing mine out. They love the tracing paper and the fabric, anything that I lay out flat and painstakingly get just as needed, then they jump up and play with it! Yep, all my stp has holes!
ReplyDeleteHi Angie - I've joined the sew along and ordered the book!
ReplyDeleteLove reading about your adventures! Poor little cat.
ReplyDeleteI bought this book tonight! I blame you!
